Becslések szerint 340.000 brit családtól loptak már el babakocsit. Háromszáznegyvenezer. Akárhogy csűröm-csavarom, nekem ez soknak tűnik. De nemcsak emiatt akadt meg a szemem a híren, hanem mert elég sokszor megfordult már a fejemben, biztonságos-e nyilvános helyen, épületen kívül "parkolni" a babakocsival.

Benivel nagyon sokat programozunk, és London-ban ez íratlan szabály - egy külön teremben vagy az épület előtt kell hagyni a "járgányt", legtöbbször őrzés nélkül. Ez így van a játszóházakban, néhány kávézóban, múzeumban, elég sok helyen. Eddig mindig a moralitással győztem meg magam - ki lenne olyan szívtelen, hogy egy anyukát és gyermekét kifossza.
Aztán a fenti statisztikát látva elbizonytalanodtam...Az interneten böngészve kiderült, 2011-ben 913 babakocsi-lopást jelentettek a brit rendőrőrsök kétharmadában (a maradék egyharmadról nincs adat), ami 23 százalékkal több mint 2009-ben. Vagyis egyre több a lopás - szakértők szerint azért, mert egyre menőbb trendi, úgynevezett designer darabot venni, aminek borsos az ára. Sokan ezért használt babakocsira hajtanak, ez pedig generálja a fekete-kereskedelmet - szóval ez amolyan ördögi kör...

De a rendőrségi statisztika csak a jéghegy csúcsa - egy biztosító vállalat felmérése szerint a kisgyerekes brit családok 7 százaléka (340.000) már vesztett így el babakocsit, csak sokan nem tesznek feljelentést.
Egy anyuka azt írja az egyik angol nyelvű fórumon, hogy miután ellopták a babakocsijukat a rászerelt autós üléssel együtt, nemcsak hogy hazaautózni nem tudtak, de egy éhes gyermeket kellett hazacipelnie a hidegben, ráadásul a babakocsi kosarában volt a kisfiú kedvenc takarója - egy ősrégi, pótolhatatlan darab, ami még az édesanyáé volt...

Kíváncsi voltam az otthoni helyzetre, így az Országos Rendőrfőkapitánysághoz fordultam információért. Többhetes várakozás, a kérelem újraküldése és némi telefonálgatás után a Magyar Baba, Angol Baby kérdésére ennyit sikerült válaszolniuk: "Cieleszky Péter r. alezredes, főosztályvezető úr megbízásából tájékoztatom, hogy az egységes nyomozó hatósági és ügyészségi bűnügyi statisztikából - kód hiányában - a babakocsi lopások nem mutathatóak ki." Hogy miért nem vagyok meglepve?!
A google-ban persze lehet híreket találni random esetekről, például az RTL Klub egyik riportja egy érdekes történetről számol be.
De talán Ti is tudjátok formálni a képet - Tőletek loptak már el babakocsit vagy bármilyen babaholmit? Van-e valamilyen tanácsotok a többi kismamának a biztonságot illetően?
According to estimates, a pram or buggy has been stolen from 340,000 British families. Three hundred and forty thousand. Whatever the explanation, this seems a lot to me. But this isn't the only reason, that the startling statistic caught my eye - I kept thinking whether it is safe to leave my buggy unattended.
We go out a lot with Ben, and, in London it is the unwritten rule - you usually have to park your "vehicle" in a separate room or in front of the building, usually without any security. I have so far been reassured that no-one would be so cruel as to separate a mum and baby from their buggy.
But then seeing the theft statistics, I began to question my belief. Searching on the internet it turned out that in 2011, there were 913 buggies reported stolen among police forces that collect the data - 23 percent more than in 2009. Experts believe the big increase is because of the trend for designer (and expensive) buggies. Many parents can't afford the latest models so turn to the black market - which encourages the thefts and so on.
However, the police statistics are allegedly just the tip of the iceberg - according to an insurance company survey, 7 percent of British families have had a buggy stolen (340,000 families). But many of the victims don't report the crime to the police.
One of the mums writes on an English forum that her pushchair was stolen with a carseat connected to it. She couldn't then drive her baby home, so had to carry a hungry child in the cold. To make the situation even worse, in the basket of the stolen pushchair was the little boy's favourite blanket which was his mum's as a child - so it was a 40-years old, unreplaceable piece...
I was curious about the situation in my home country so I asked the Hungarian police for information. After a few weeks waiting, re-sending my request and repeated phone calls Magyar Baba, Angol Baby received this laconic answer: "On the order of Peter Cieleszky, Head of Department I inform you that from the unified statistics of the police and prosecution - in absence of a code - the buggy-stealing can't be traceable." What a surprise!
Some news reports can be found on Google, of course, but they are random cases - for example here is an interesting one from the Hungarian RTL Television.
